GenderCompetence

The GenderCompetenceCenter 2003-2010

has been an application-oriented research institution at the Humboldt-Universität of Berlin for supporting public administrative institutions in developing gender equality politics and implementing the Gender Mainstreaming (GM) strategy. It was founded in October 2003 as an externally-funded project within the Center for Transdisciplinary Gender Studies (ZtG) by Prof. Dr. Susanne Baer  (Legal Studies, Humboldt University Berlin). It was financed for more than seven years by the Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (Bundesministerium für Familie, Senioren, Frauen und Jugend). Since August 2010 it continuous its work as an independent organisation with a new and wider profile, including anti-discrimination politics and a queer critique of diversity politics.

Main formats of work have been consultancy, conferences, public lectures and a website consisting of more than 2000 pages of information. The aim was to provide knowledge, create competence, and gain acceptance for gender equality politics.

Fields of work consited of politics, public administration, industry, associations, science and academia, and consultancy.
